I want to love Saab
I want to love Saab and I still do.
But if I didnt have a family member who knew
how to fix it I would of been in trouble quite a lot.
The serpentine belt came off quite a bit.
We got real good at it. Cheap fix but 4 hours of time.
Changing the plugs is a dream.
Had to change the unit above it too. Found a part online 200$
Locla dealer wanted 1000$ plus 400$ labour.
We changed it in 15 minutes.
I still love it regardless. Thinking maybe buying the 2011.
Not sure yet.

Better than brand new cars
We test drove few cars and my wife told me to stop comparing it to SAAB.
Engineering is amazing even for the new cars full of electronic.

Best Bang For The Buck!
This is one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven.
Excellent power for over taking and yet still it will do 25MPG combined everyday. Also, only 87 Octane is Required, not 91 like the rest of the competition.
Packed to the brim with lots of good stuff, like front and heated seats, Harmon Kardon Audio System, Auto Adjusting Headlights, Automatic Wipers, and the list goes on.
Way more powerful than anything the Germans can throw within this price range.
I don't know why people buy the German cars when Saab's give you waayyy more for the money, its unbelievable!
And parts are not an excuse, because parts are readily available online and there are many skilled mechanics who can work on these cars no problem.
Reliability is amazing as well! I have owned mine for 2 years and all that has been required is Oil changes.
It also has a Timing Chain, so that is practically good for the life of the car.
Buy it for looks, comfort, ride quality, interior size, powerful engine, and many more things.
I love this car, and I if I decide to upgrade in the future, it'll definitely be to the 2011 Saab 9-5. That to me is what a Sedan should look like! Best looking car in category, hands down!

A sports car dressed as a sedan
Driving this car is a comfortable road handling dream. The seating and ride is enjoyable for commutes and the long weekend drive to your favorite get away. Combine that with the climate controlled interior and the sound system that puts you in the middle of the concert and you have a very enjoyable experience. The Turbo and manual shift paddles lets you be in control of where you want, when you want.

Great ride for the $$
Since Saab went out of business these have become the best deal on a Euro sports sedan or wagon. Powerful engine, good handling, fantastic highway cruiser. Well equipped (especially Aero models) and reliable.
Parts remain readily available and reasonably priced for the 9-5 and online forums provide guidance on DIY and upgrade options.
As always, a unique ride that appeals to some (but not all ;-).
Not aware of anything else on the used market at this price that offers as much as the 9-5 Aero.

SAAB 9-5 Luxury car but high fuel consumption
The car has a very nice interior design, everything is in leather and wood, it is very aestetic and beautiful.
The car is also quite reliable, I have 220000 km and the engine still works very fine.
The only problem with the car is the fuel consumption. It takes around 18 l / Km during the winter in bad conditions and 11 l / highway. It is pretty much compared to a VW Jetta or even with any VW or any other car ...

Love that turbo feel!
I found myself in this Saab mostly by finding what was available for a low price point. At the time, my car (a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart) was destroyed in an accident and I wasn't financially ready for a new ride. So I scrounged up whatever funds I had remaining and found this Saab.

All in all though this car has been a phenomenal find! It is comfortable, fast, and fairly quiet. The engine surprised me the most. Very solid feel, and smooth. Relatively little turbo lag but I love the sound the turbo makes when you really step on it. Doesn't handle the greatest, but it's not a small car so that was to be expected. Still the handling could do a lot worse. Years ago I told myself I would never again buy a GM product. I have now decided to make a Saab the exception. The layout took some getting used to but now I can't imagine things placed differently.

I've had a fantastic experience with this car
I have over 150000kms on my Saab, and haven't ever had any major issues with it. I have had to repair the rear parking sensors , and that's about it. Very comfortable ride, good fuel economy for a car of it's size, and acres of trunk space!

Just keeps on going and going.
Bought our 2000 Saab 9-5 Aero used with approx 119,000 KM - This car is fast and reliable - Now 4+ years later and pushing 200,000 km the only expense so far apart from regular synthetic oil changes every 7,000 km was a complete brake job, NGK Spark Plugs and a new Battery.

Excellent balance of economy and power
I bought this car last year and so far had no major issues. Just regular maintenance, coolant temp sensor change, and a bulb change.

This car has some amazing acceleration. 0-100 km/h is about 6.5, which is nothing spectacular but dropping down to 2nd gear in town and 3rd gear is a beast on the highway.

Parts and labour aren't cheap, but parts can be found for a reasonable price online and it's pretty easy to do the work yourself.

Perfect Blend of comfort performance and economy
I absolutelty love this car. i have waited a long time to get one at an affordable price. Currently with the fact that they are not being made anymore, the price has considerably come down. These cars were over $50,000 brand new. The 250 hp engine is tuned to produce over 250lbs/ft of torque at lower RPMS than its competitors. this gives the 9-5 Aero unprecedented pulling power and will put a smile on your face for threst of the ride. i also value this quick acceleration as a safety feature since i can get out of tricky situations with just a tap of the accelerator.

The interior is strictly a driver's car. one lousy cup-holder to satisfy the teetotalers. leather wrapped steering wheel, power memory heated seats, and a 9 speaker entertainment system powered by Harmon Kardon will keep you firmly behind the wheel. you won't let anyone drive your car. it becomes way too personal.

when i go to leave for work in the morning, i don't get into my Saab, i put it on.

Find your own road.

Hugely underrated luxury cruiser
Exceptionally comfortable, roomy, fast, well-built and safe. Great highway cruiser and economical for its size: I regularly get 35-37 mpg on long trips with the cruise set to 110 mph. Well appointed interior with generally good quality materials. Requires conscientious maintenance, and parts can be expensive so find a good independent mechanic. SAABs are not flashy cars, but a great deal of thought goes into their design. In today's market it would be hard to find a better value.

The Ultimate Sweedish Rocket
Though it's not as powerful as Volvo's S60/V70R's, the turbo in the 9-5 Aero could dust a 911 Turbo in midrage power. Don't believe me? Ask Jeremy Clarkson.

To this day, I regret selling my beloved Saab. Though newer, sleeker, more technologically-advanced cars have caught my eye, nothing has matched the balance of uniqueness, power, features, and passion that comes with owning a Saab.

Reliability-wise, the car was solid, however the one watch-out is the DIC module, which can render the car undriveable if it fails. It will also cost a few hundred to replace. However, on the bright side, it is a relatively easy DIY job, and since the failure is nearly inevitable amongst all Saabs, repair information is plentiful.

The car was packed with features. My favourite was the seats: not only were they a dream for my back, but they were air conditioned as well. After selling the Saab, the only other vehicles I could find with A/C seats were flagship models from Japanese and German competitors.

It was a pleasure to own, and one of the few vehicles I truly had an emotional connection with.

Big Car. Efficient Package. Saab Quirkiness.
The best way I could describe Saab is "different". It's unlike any other vehicle, which makes it easy to embrace it's quirkiness, love it's feature, and overlook its flaws. It was a bigger car that handled like a smaller one, had great pep without sacrificing fuel economy, and had some nice features that you'd only find on higher end cars (e.g. parking sensors, Xenon headlights, rain sensing wipers, heated rear seats).

I only owned the car for 6 months with nary an issue. Though Saabs have a spotty track record as a whole, my vehicle was trouble free. In fact, I enjoyed it so much I upgraded to an Aero. By no means is this car perfect ("smoothness" is not in its vocabulary), but all of these oddities is what makes a Saab a Saab. It's a shame the company went under, but if you are looking for a different car with a relatively low cost of entry, this may be a good bet.
