2003 Toyota Camry

10 years and running strong!
The only fault with this car is that it's got a creaky steering wheel after almost 10 years. it just goes and goes and goes. it's great on gas, negligible on maintenance, easy on insurance and it does what you bought it for in the first place.

2005 Toyota Corolla

Very reliable
This car goes and goes and goes. Wants very little. Just do the basic maintenance and you should be fine. They are cheap to maintain as well provided you find yourself a decent mechanic.

If you're looking to stand out, this car is NOT for you. The cost to run this car is minimal. It's cheap on gas and insurance. You'd be very unlucky to get a lemon in a Corolla's skin.

2011 Honda CR-V

Gets you places and that's all
About as average an SUV there is. It can be considered a CRV but there's still not much to it. It's built on the Civic platform but gas consumption isn't close to that of a Civic.

The base model is very bare-bones but it has the basics. There's LOTS of space at the back and in the rear seats. However, if you put a car seat at the back blind spot visibility will suffer. Power....well that's a joke.

2005 Acura RSX

Trim: Type S

Best car I have owned
Not a lot of these floating around anymore but if you can get your hands on one of these go for it. Mind you the equivalent Civic Si comes with an LSD and more options. Fuel efficiency is fairly decent. Options are minimal at best for a car branded under Acura.

The clutch is a dream. With a few upgrades the 6 speed shifter is amazing. And that engine when it screams past 8000 RPM is amazing!

Don't bother fitting anybody at the rear but if you throw down the back seats it fits a lot. Insurance is relatively high because it's a coupe sought after by thieves.

2005 BMW 3 Series

Trim: 325I Sedan Executive Package

Great ride but beware of expenditure
I owned this car for a few years and I had very mixed feelings. I'll start with the positives. My 5 speed was very fuel efficient but I wished it had a 6th gear. Only the 3.0L variants came with one. It had lots of different options as it came with some of the winter items like heated seats/headlight washers and premium items like auto headlights/wipers etc. It also came with sport wheels and the sport steering wheel. The ride was quite comfortable and it was a stylish car on the outside.

But there were lots of negatives. Stuff breaks....a lot. Thermostat, expansion tank, brakes (not just the pads) etc. are expensive. Avoid dealerships, find a local BMW specialist and you should be fine.
