Volvo V40 2001-2012Change

I own 2 of these cars...2001 $ 2002. mine has over 414,000 kms and still on original engine and tranny. the 2002 has also 335,000 kms and also on original engine and tranny. The odd wear and tear items always need replacing, but No main components. Only things done were front struts both sides on both cars. This seems to be the only main design flaw. But if you want bang for your Minimal bucks......this is the car for you!. I just wish insurance was a bit less on this car though....lol

I've had this car from 2005 (8 years).

Driving is always a pleasure, especially long hauls.

As with other Volvos of the same period, there have been issues with the headlight bulbs, brakes, front bearings/bushing and struts. Nothing super-expensive or in a short interval, just regular maintenance for a car that's done 300-thousand-plus.

In mixed city/highway, I get about 400 KM for 48 litre tankful. On long hauls, I get about 550 KM for the same tankful.

The problem is that I'm doing 30-thousand-plus a year going to work,

We bough this car for my daughter for a short period of time. This model gave us great peace of mind in regards to its safety features. She loved every aspect of it, we are selling it just because there is no need for 2 cars in our family, if it was not for my Saab 9-3 2007, I would be keeping that Volvo until it reached well over 300 000 km. We drove it a little bit on the Winnipeg bad winter roads and even with 4 seasons tire, it handles beautifully.

Never had any problem with this car since 2 years I am driving it.
Selling it just because I got an SUV Lexus and don't have space for parking.

Great little car, needs brake work quite frequently and eats gas like there's no tomorrow. Rusting seems to happen mostly in the front wheel wells. Basic maintenance is average in cost and frequency.

love this car got it second hand works well fits child seat easily only issue i have is it is a little low to the ground sometimes i scrap a little when i leave my building parking lot

I live in newfoundland, canada so this car is great for getting around in. I love the leather interior and the specialities within the car.

I have owned this car for six years, and have loved it. European wagons have all the convenience of a wagon, but with better exterior style than other manufacturers. The heated leather seats are a luxury in winter, while the sunroof and a/c are great for summer. Lots of room in the back for cargo. Good gas mileage from the turbo 4.
