Refreshed Looks, New Infotainment for Toyota Sienna and Yaris Hatch

Toyota is bringing refreshed versions of one of their smallest and one of their largest vehicles to the New York International Auto Show next month. The 2018 Toyota Sienna gets new styling, more safety, and a new infotainment system. The 2018 Yaris hatch gets a new front fascia and revised rear sculpting, plus new gauges and better stereos.

The Sienna received a new 296 hp V6 last year, and now it's getting new looks to go with it. There is a new nose with a bigger grille and larger fog lights. It's a bigger, more aggressive nose, much like what the 2018 Camry and 2017 Corolla received.

Toyota is adding Safety Sense P to all trims. Safety Sense P is the better featured of their two main systems (TSS C being the baser version) that comes with their pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings with steering assist, and automatic high beams.

New inside will be Toyota's Entune 3.0 infotainment system. It has Toyota's Connected Navigation Scout GPS that uses your phone's GPS and mapping integrated with the infotainment system. Higher trims will have WiFi Connect that is a mobile 4G hotspot. They have also made improvements to the JBL audio system on higher trims, including a new subwoofer and repositioned speakers.

The 2018 Sienna will have five USB ports to cover all three rows, a 4.2-inch colour information display, and the rear seat entertainment can now stream from an Android device.

2018 Toyota Yaris

The 2018 Yaris hatchback gets a bold new look. Lower trims get a new front fascia with a new grille and more chrome. SE trims get a piano black mesh grille with a chrome accent and 16-inch alloys. At the rear, there are wider taillights that cross over into the tailgate.

Lower trims will get the sport instrumentation from the SE, and some new infotainment systems. Yaris hatchbacks will get an Entune bundle with a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, along with six speakers. SE trims add a 7.0-inch screen with the Connected Navigation App that uses your phone for GPS and mapping data, satellite radio, and HD radio. There will be new colours as well, with a new two-tone blue with black roof.

Some of the trim information provided is US specific, but we expect Canadian models to have the same equipment. We will update if anything changes when the full Canadian specs are released. The 2018 Sienna is expected to arrive in the fall, with the Yaris arriving at dealers this summer.
