Volvo has just unveiled the all-new V90 Cross Country. The new crossover wagon fills the gap between the V90 and the XC90 in the Volvo lineup. The Cross Country takes the striking V90 wagon body and adds fender flares and lower body cladding, an increased ride height, and optimizes the chassis for more severe road conditions.
Volvo insists that this is car has real rough-road capability, with Cross Country being 60 mm higher than the regular V90, and also having increased suspension travel. It has larger wheels and more aggressive tires picked for their off-road capability. Volvo has added hill descent control and has revised the all-wheel drive system and active control system. Other cosmetic changes include a unique grille and gloss black window trim. Inside, the interior is shared with the V90 with some small changes; the wood trim is black walnut, and the seats have special decorative stitching.
The Cross Country is expected to share the 316 hp turbocharged and supercharged T6 four-cylinder and the 400 hp hybrid-electric T8 powertrains with the V90.
The Volvo V90 Cross Country will be available in Canada in the first quarter of 2017, with pricing starting from $61,900.
