On certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM), which controls airbag and pretensioner deployment, contains a software defect which may prevent the deployment of frontal airbags and pretensioners in certain circumstances. Failure of frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners to deploy in a crash (when warranted) could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will reflash the SDM with new software. In vehicles with any previous deployment events recorded in the SDM, the dealers will replace the existing SDM with a new SDM containing the latest software.

On certain vehicles, the right rear toe link outer ball joint may not have been properly fastened to the knuckle. This may result in rear suspension noise, particularly when travelling around corners or over bumps or potholes. Over time, if the vehicle is continually operated with this condition, the toe link could separate from the knuckle, causing sudden vehicle instability and increasing the risk of a crash causing personal injury or property damage. Dealers will inspect and replace any damaged parts as necessary. If no damage is noted, the dealer will reassemble the toe link with a new fastener and tighten to specification.

On certain vehicles, a defect in the driver frontal airbag could allow the airbag to separate from its backing plate upon deployment, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant in a crash where airbag deployment is warranted. Correction: Dealers will replace the airbag.

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 135 - Brake Systems. One of the parking brake cables may not have been installed correctly, which would result in the parking brake being operational on one rear wheel only, causing a reduction in parking brake performance and causing the vehicle to fail to meet the requirements of the standard. This could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, re-install the park brake cable.
