Lincoln's mid-size luxury sedan, the MKZ is unchanged for 2015. It comes well appointed and with a choice of two gasoline powertrains and a hybrid option. The base engine is a 2.0L EcoBoost four cylinder, turbocharged and equipped with direct injection to return 240 hp and 270 lb-ft. The upgrade engine is a 3.7L V6 that gets 300 hp and 277 lb-ft. The 2.0L gets front wheel drive, and the V6 is available with all-wheel drive and both get a six-speed automatic transmission. The MKZ Hybrid gets a 2.0L Atkinson cycle four-cylinder and an electric motor to return 188 hp total, and 129 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid is available in front-wheel drive only, and power is routed through a CVT.
The MKZ is available in Premiere, Select and Reserve trim levels. The V6 is available as an option on Select and Reserve. The hybrid is available in all three trims. Standard features on Premiere include 10-way adjustable, leather trimmed, heated power front seats, a leather wheel, reverse alert sensors, 10.1-inch screen for the instrument cluster, MyLincoln touch infotainment with Lincoln premium audio, proximity keyless entry and push button start. There are LED adaptive headlights and LED tail lights, 18-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control and a back-up camera. An optional Preferred package comes with 19-inch wheels and THX audio.
The Select trim adds nicer wood trim (real wood on all trims), power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, and ambient interior lighting. It makes an optional sunroof or full roof retractable panoramic glass available. It also makes available a technology package that includes adaptive cruise, collision warning, park assist, lane guidance and automatic high beams and wipers. A THX branded audio system is also available.
Reserve adds navigation, blind spot warning, a power opening/closing trunklid, adds cooling and perforated leather to the seats, heat to the rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. The technology package is available here as well, as are trick front seats with 11 adjustable air pockets and massage function for maximum comfort.
The MKZ with the EcoBoost four is rated at 10.5 L/100 km city and 7.0 L/100 km highway. The V6 with all-wheel drive gets a 13.2/9.2 rating. The hybrid manages to score an impressive 5.7/6.0 L/100 km.
The Lincoln's main competition is from the Lexus ES. The MKZ offers a large amount of luxury features for not a large price. It also offers the fairly unique feature of magnetic adjustable dampers on all trims. Combined with the Hybrid being available for the same price as the gas four-cylinder, the MKZ offers excellent value in the segment.
