2011 Jeep Patriot

Great Ride
I've been driving this car since March of this year, and I have to say it's a great ride. It could however take some notes in exterior styling from it's older brother the Cherokee, but I'm please with the drive.

Stylish and comfortable ride
Stylish and comfortable ride. Fold down flat back seats. Not as great on fuel economy like we expected.

2008 Jeep Patriot

My Patriot has served me well
I purchased my 2008 Jeep Patriot new. I am the most satisfied with the fuel economy and the AWD. It is not a very smooth ride and it is not full of many frills or luxuries. The size of the hatch is not quite big enough for our family's needs at times. You get luggage or hockey equipment in there and it's crammed. I appreciate the gas mileage that I do earn from my Patriot, as a busy family we are always on the go. This makes a good family vehicle, but not in comparison to larger SUV's or vans. In my opinion, there is "zero" tow capacity to this vehicle and so not practical for anyone who needs to tow. I would recommend the Patriot, however, I will be upgrading to something a bit more comfortable and with more "extras" next time around.

2008 Jeep Patriot

Trim: 4x2 North
by tooscoops on 10-27-2012
Great Cargo mover
In the competitive segment of small SUV's there are a lot of different reasons to choose one over the next.

Compact SUV's need to be versatile, efficient, cost effective and comfortable.

The Patriot is all of those, though some more than others.

Comfort wise, the car has decently supportive seats and the ride is a nice balance of smoothness. Armrests, dash and trim panels however, are as hard as plastic can be. add that to the singular nature of Jeep and you have an issue. for 2009 and I think 2011 there were interior improvements to add more soft touch material.

Cost wise, this model is in the lower section on the used market. regular maintenance is inexpensive and my personal experience has been great with repairs (or lack thereof)

Efficiency is moderate. The North could have either a 2.0L or a 2.4L 4 Cylinder engine as well as two or four wheel drive. Mine is a 2.0L 4x2 and has had decent gas mileage for the size of car, though slightly worse than fuel guide estimates.

Versatility is where it shines. 60/40 rear seat with a fold flat front seat plus optional roof rails have made this little SUV able to carry canoes, bikes, snowboard and more anywhere I have wanted to go.

Also important is the power. Either 4-cylinder engine provides ample power and is mated to a CVT II transmission. This drivetrain takes some getting used to and does not have the same pick-up you may expect from a car with 150+ horsepower. Once accustomed to the transmission, it is easy to get the RPM’s up when you need them to actually feel some acceleration.

The North package seemed to be most common providing the A/C, Power windows and locks, electronic stability program as well as those folding seats previously mentioned and was in the middle of the levels of options. The other 2 packages were the Sport and the Limited.

Overall, the Patriot isn't the best in the category, but at the price point, it is hard to find a much better value.

2011 Jeep Patriot

Trim: North Edition
by JohnnyG on 10-26-2012
The CV Transmission is worth noting
My experiences so far have been:
the cloth seats are comfortable, sound system can make the front passenger door vibrate audibly from bass, gas mileage is about 10-15% worse than advertised and that's when I try to be economical with throttle input, the CVT is cool and is in place to minimize gas consumption - very smooth to the point where you don't feel gear changes though throttle response is delayed as a result of this setup, the auto-stick shift is great and I find myself using it often to engine break while applying the breaks, the 4wd is kind of a gimmick as it is only activated when the front slips though I've never checked to see if I could spin the back tires, cargo space is small for an SUV but that's what segment they're in (small SUVs), so far I have no complaints other than the door bass buzz (result of a decent sound for base system) and the gas mileage. Does much better than small fwd cars in snow and that was with all seasons on in the first winter.

2007 Jeep Patriot

2007 Jeep Patriot
The Patriot offers outstanding fuel economy. With this vehicle you cam also opt for 4X4 and in Canada that's a very good option to have. I like to think the exterior of this Jeep has a lot of similarities with the 90's style Cherokee, it has a lot of the square hard angles in the styling. All in all this jeep offers the best of both worlds City functionality and country side off road fun.

2010 Jeep Patriot

Trim: North Edition 4x4
by DriftNut56 on 10-22-2012
It's a car with a 4 inch lift, basically.
I've had this car since December 2011 and I can't decide whether I like it or not. On the one hand I chose it because I needed something that was going to get me around without spending all my money on gas but I also needed something that would be reliable driving back and forth between Edmonton and Calgary. It does the job but I have some issues. The cabin is very loud. It's like riding in the economy class of a jet, next to the engines. The tires that come with the vehicle are horrid Firestones. And it's been less the problem free. Since December I've put 37,000 km and I've had to replace the thermostats and the rear diff. Mind you, the car was purchased with a rebuilt status so I try to keep and open mind. The diff. shouldn't be breaking at 17,000 km's though.

This car does have good things about it. It's comfortable and everything on the dash is laid out nicely. It's simple. I like that. Also, the suspension is firm and the steering is sharp. The 4x4 is exceptional. I haven't had to turn it on yet but that could be attributed to the automatic nature of the thing. It's on when it needs to be. The rear seat leg room, I've been told, is exceptional as well.

The CVT transmission. I'm on the fence about it. On the one hand, it's good for highway driving. Makes the journey smooth cause there's no shifting or kickdown. On the other hand it makes the car whiny and the fuel economy is not very good in the city.

The aerodynamics of the car is not very good either. The passenger window wistles in the wind and the hood flaps at high speed. This might be a result of the rebuilt status, I don't know.

Keeping in mind it's a compact SUV, there isn't too much trunk space but folding the seats down is useful.

Overall, it's a better car than it is an SUV but the clearance height is good enough for most places. Maybe the trail rated model is different but I couldn't say.

Excellent Value & Economy
This vehicle is the easiest to use vehicle with automatic attention lights for things like tires needing air, locks not set, back hatch not closedm, etc.
Maintenance free with great fuel mileage and looks great too.
Extended warranty is a bonus to 100km

beep beep for Jeep
This truck was a fun SUV to own. It had pretty great off-roading capabilities and overall it was a pretty reliable vehicle to own.

It has a basic interior that was okay but overall lacking in quality. Good cargo space and was a pretty solid vehicle to drive.
