2010 Toyota Highlander

by Truly on 02-10-2013
High Life
There's lots of rav out there for the Highlander and for good reason. There's very few repairs ever reported, so if you are looking for a long term family vehicle this is a good bet. Very safe, and gas is at par with it's competitors.

2006 Hummer H2

Hummer
Love the look, feel and style of these, but they come at a price. Gas consumption is horrendous. In many newer parking lot you will often find it very tight to park and find yourself parking at the end of aisles just to get in and out. Reliability is soso.

2004 Chrysler Neon

by Truly on 02-10-2013
Neon
The Neon is very basic car with lots of quirks. It's inexpensive on gas, but can have a fair number of repairs. Overall it doesn't feel like it's built well either. I'd suggest having a mechanic check it out prior to buying one.

1986 Chevrolet Chevette

Chevette
Although cheap and nothing to write home about for appearances these can be very reliable cars. They require low maintenance and parts are very inexpensive. If you find an old one today that's been well taken care of they are well built and can be a great starter car.

1980 Chevrolet Camaro

80s Camaro
The best thing I can say about this generation is the parts are extremely cheap and easy to fix a lot yourself. Off the line they can have some power, but you need to sink some money in to get even average handling out of this car. They rot out very easily. Especially in the rear end with the unibody frame.

2010 Honda Civic

Civics
The Civic is an affordable Honda that comes with strong reliability. From a design or comfort perspective it's very average. If you own it from new and treat it right it will last you a very long time. Trunk space is average.

2010 Honda Odyssey

You get what you pay for. This is an expensive mini van, but it rarely has mechanical issues, has lots of power, holds 7 and gives lots of flexibility for families.

2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Styling
One of the best cars out there. Very affordable used and inexpensive and infrequent repair bills. You can fit a lot in here. The trunk is not overly large with all the seats in, but you have a 1/3 and 2/3 seat split that fold up or come out.

2010 Kia Rio

Basic
This is an inexpensive car and if you want to ask for much more than that then you better shell out more money. It's a very basic car that's cheap on gas and insurance. It rides, handles and feels very basic. It's suitable for an a to b car, but you can't put much in it if you have a family.

1987 Ford Aerostar

Aerostar
This was a good family van. You could remove seats, but they weighed a ton. Mechanically there wasn't much that went wrong except the starters. It seemed like we needed to replace these at least once every 2 years. The v6 engine held up better than the body for us.

1985 Ford Mustang

4 Cyclinder
Most people don't want the 4 cylinders, but today they are more economical. With a red exterior the white interior popped with the white drop top. The interior did seem to split with too much sun. Comfort wise, it's very basic and there's not a lot of power. I did like the lines on this car and reliability was average.

2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser

PT Terrific
I have nothing but good things to say about the PT. Reliability is incredible this with car. And when I have repairs they are typically small. $150 for wheel barrings or tie rod. Low cost repairs and infrequent. I find these are easy to get in and out of. Your up, but not too far up in the driver's seat. There is TONS of room in these. With the seats coming out in the back you can fit some large things and with it being a hatchback they can be high in height too.

TPI Camaro
Had a TPI with posi with a white exterior and grey cloth interior. I put a few maintenance fixes in after purchase and had no issues after that. It cornered nicely, was a low and smooth ride and had lots of power. I sure miss this car.

2001 Oldsmobile Aurora

Trim: V6
by Truly on 01-14-2013
Aurora
I had an Aurora for approximately 2 years. It was a beautiful car to look at and drive. Gas usage was average, but where the car failed was reliability. I purchased off of a 1 owner older gentleman and at my time of purchase it only had 114,000km. There wasn't a spot of rust on the car ,but every 3 months I had repairs. In my 2 years I replaced 5 hub assemblies due to the sensor going off and shutting down the ABS and traction control. There's one on each wheel. I also replaced an oil sensor, upper strut mounts, a rear window assembly, and a few other things. Our best friend is a lead mechanic, so we knew it wasn't a mechanic trying to take advantage of us. The last straw was oil just disappearing. It must have been burning it off because we had a die put in and still couldn't locate the issue. A very expensive car to maintain because there are soooo many bells and whistles to go wrong.

1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

Trim: RS
by Truly on 01-14-2013
V6 Cavalier
I had this car for several years receiving from my grandmother who was a one owner. She took good care of it and had it under coated annually. Despite this I found myself in constant repairs with this car. Breaklines, gas tank, rad, distributor, even the firewall leaked during a hard rain right into the drivers feet area. There's not much positive to write about this car. It wasn't very good on gas, could not tow much of anything, had limited space and was very basic in terms of performance or comfort. At 150,000km it was time to put it to rest despite the body still being in good condition from undercoating.

2006 Chrysler 300

Trim: Limited
by Truly on 01-14-2013
300 Limited
I've enjoyed my 300 overall. The plus side is it feels safe with it's size. It runs extremely quiet and is a very smooth right. On the flip side there are many front end components to be fixed all the time. Despite having variable timing it does consume a fair bit of gas and I find my auto sensing lights do not always work properly in the extreme cold or slushy winter conditions. I do like the 2,000 lb towing capacity.

2006 GMC Jimmy

Jimmy
For a 4x4 the Jimmy is not bad, however, it does not corner well at all. Any mid to high winds are easily affecting you in motion. You need to remove the back tire to see out the back window. Gas is average usage and it tows well. Fair reliability.
