2017 Hyundai Elantra pricing announced

Hyundai has just announced the pricing of the all-new 2017 Hyundai Elantra with starting MSRP set at $15,999.

The new Elantra receives a visual treatment that follows in the steps of the bigger Sonata, with a Europeanized design, HID headlights and hexagonal front grille, leaving the swooping headlamps design behind. For 2017, the vehicle also gains an inch or so, both in length and in width for what the manufacturer calls "improved proportions". The reingeneered midsize sedan is built on Super Structure made of 53 percent strength steel that improves its handling and its resistance to impacts. The Elantra will be available with a flight of premium exterior features including 17-inch wheels, door handles LED approach lights and side mirror turn signal indicators.

The upgrades continue on the inside where the Elantra receives overall better quality materials and a more refined dashboard design. A 4.2-inch touchscreen sits in the middle of the console, giving access to the infotainment and the navigation systems. It will also offer equipment such as power driver seat with memory system, front heated seats, wheel-mounted commands and Hyundai's new Smart Trunk technology that will allow users to have access to the trunk by placing the fob in their pocket and walking up to the back of the car. The seats are also made out of SoyFoam, an eco-friendly alternative to the usual petroleum-based foams used.

The 2017 Elantra will be available with a choice of two powertains: a 2.0L rated at 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque, as well as an all-new 1.4L Kappa turbo engine that will produce 128 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque. Combined fuel economy of the 2.0L is expected to get 7.1 L/100 km combined whereas the numbers for the turbo powertrain will average 6.7 l/100 km. A standard six-speed manual transmission will be available only on the entry-level model or a standard six-speed automatic transmission.

The entry-level Elantra L will start at $15,999 and pricing will go up to $28,799 for the top of the line Elantra Limited with Ultimate Package. The redesigned 2017 Hyundai Elantra will be available at the dealerships at the end of February.
