2004 brought us the Ford Mustang 40th Anniversary edition of Monopoly, featuring classic and special Mustangs in place of the hotels and utilities we grew up with. It also had classic Mustang-inspired tokens. Now Monopoly Empire has arrived, and it will bring a new ride for Mr Monopoly (no longer known as Rich Uncle Pennybags), the 2015 Mustang as the token everyone wants to use, the "car" game token.
The force of branding is strong with this edition of Monopoly, in which Samsung replaces Park Place, Nerf takes over Mediterranean Avenue, and you raise billboards instead of hotels. It updates the classic game with changes to game play and modern brands.
