Mercedes-Benz Recalls Roadsters to Fix Loose Tie Rods

Transport Canada has announced a Mercedes-Benz recall to fix loose tie rods on a small number of 2016 model year roadsters.

The recall affects 15 examples of its SLK-Class roadster sold as 2016 models. The source of the problem are faulty rear tie rod lock nuts that could loosen and affect the alignment of one or both of the car's rear wheels. That could adversely affect the car's handling and lead to a crash. The photo below shows a rear tie rod (indicated by the red arrow) on a previous-generation SLK model.

Dealers are being instructed to replace the defective tie rod lock nuts.
