Hyundai's upscale Genesis brand has announced its first two models, the G80 and G90 sedans, will go on sale next month carrying MSRPs of $54,000 and $84,000, respectively. Uncharacteristically, those prices include delivery/destination charges, scheduled maintenance, satellite radio subscriptions and navigation map updates for five years, or 100,000 km.
Genesis says its "modern, simplified" pricing structure also includes at-home service that brings a car to a potential buyer's home for a test drive, and also allows a customer to finalize the deal on a new car at their home.
The G80 (nee Hyundai Genesis) comes with a 3.8L V6 making 311 hp mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and AWD. Standard kit includes Nappa leather, open-pore wood trim, bi-xenon headlights, LED tail-, fog- and daytime running lights, panoramic sunroof, navigation with backup camera, 14-speaker stereo, heated/ventilated front seats with 16-way driver and 12-way front passenger adjustment, heated rear seats and heated steering wheel. Safety features include autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot detection with rear cross traffic alert and lane change assist, and adaptive cruise control.
A $58,000 Tech package adds head-up display, larger navigation screen, 17-speaker stereo, rear-view parking guide, TFT gauge cluster display and power trunklid.
Finally, the $65,000 G80 5.0 Ultimate adds a 5.0L V8 making 420 hp and 19-inch wheels, micro-suede headliner, power rear sunshade, headlight washers, quad exhaust finishers and a card-type proximity key.
G90 (nee Equus) pricing starts at $84,000 with a 3.3L turbocharged V6 good for 365 hp with the same eight-speed/AWD combo. It includes steerable bi-xenon headlights, intelligent drive mode selector, 22-way driver and 16-way front passenger seats with heat and ventilation, heated rear seats, 12.3-inch HD centre console display, multi-view camera system, 17-speaker stereo with surround sound and wireless smartphone charging.
A G90 5.0 model gets the same V8 available in the G80, and adds adaptive bi-LED headlights with high-beam assist, ventilated rear seats with memory and 14- and 12-way adjustment for the right and left sides, power head restraints and lighted vanity mirrors. It carries a price of $87,000.
Genesis says both cars go on sale on November 21.
