Jaguar has just announced the refreshed F-Type for 2018. The sports coupe and convertible are getting some revised styling, GoPro telemetry integration, and a new 400 Sport special edition.
On the outside, the bumper is revised with new surfaces and details to further differentiate each model. The headlights are now fully LED, and the taillights look a little darker. The biggest visual change from the 2017 Jaguar F-Type is that the large vents on the corners are now mesh filled on F-Type models. The R and SVR models get larger openings, with the R getting a horizontal line running through the grille.
Inside, the interior gets new lightweight seats which Jaguar says also improve comfort and style. Magnesium frames cut 8 kg of weight out of the pair. More importantly, they can slide back further and lower than before to allow for more head and legroom. All trims now get Jaguar's newest Touch Pro infotainment system with an 8.0-inch screen.
The Touch Pro system now has a ReRun app that was developed with GoPro and allows overlay of performance data from the car onto the driver's GoPro recorded videos. It can be done in real-time, allowing for telemetry at the track, or bragging rights with your friends. It can even automatically edit the video to show just highlights it picks based on cornering and braking force measurements.
The 2018 model will see an R-Dynamic trim for F-Type V6 models which adds new wheel designs and gloss black trim. There will also be a one year only 400 Sport version, with a 400 hp version of the supercharged 3.0L V6. It will also get configurable dynamics, "Super Performance braking system", and special wheels, along with 400 Sport branding throughout. The F-type 400 Sport will sit alongside the 340 and 380 hp V6 models, and the 550 hp 5.0L V8 F-Type R and 575 hp V8 SVR will continue.
Pricing and availability are expected closer to the 2018 F-Type's full reveal later this year.
