BMW Prices Stiffer, Sharper 2018 4 Series

BMW announced last month that the 4 Series was getting a makeover for 2018, and today they've announced pricing for the revised car. The new car gets new looks, new suspension, and an upgraded interior and will get a slight price bump to start at $51,450.

The 4 Series lineup now includes the coupe, Gran Coupe four-door coupe, and the cabriolet, in 248 hp 430i and 320 hp 440i variants. Only one, the 440i coupe, will be available in rear-drive with the others all coming with xDrive all-wheel drive as standard. They will all offer BMW's eight-speed automatic as standard, with a six-speed manual available on 440i and 440i xDrive coupes only.

The big handling change for 2018 is the suspension, which has been stiffened on coupe and Gran Coupe. They also get more advanced dampers and upgraded steering. BMW claims improvements in lateral grip and straight-line handling, with the changes applying to standard, M Sport and adaptive models. There are also new wheel designs.

The body gets revised bumpers and grilles with new air intakes. There are new headlights with LED lighting standard along with LED tail lights. The snapper rocks blue and sunset orange paint choices in the top photo are new this year as well.

Inside, the air outlets, door mounted controls, and the seat belt guides all have new finishes. The console gets a new gloss black panel and there is new double stitching on the dash. 430i models get a new sports steering wheel with leather wrap. There are three new interior colours, blue, cognac, and ivory, plus new trim choices. Inside that double-stitched dash is the newest version of BMW's iDrive system with a new menu layout and new navigation system.

The new 4 Series models should arrive at dealers this spring.
