2018 Audi S4 Gets Faster, Lighter, More Automatic

Audi has just revealed the acceleration figures for the all-new S4 and to nobody's surprise, it's quick. The redesigned engine and weight loss mean that the new car can go from 0-100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.

That acceleration comes from a new version of Audi's 3.0 TFSI V6 that now puts out 354 hp and 369 lb-ft. That's a jump of 21 hp and 44 lb-ft over the old engine, thanks to a turbocharger replacing the previous supercharger. It's the first application of the newest Audi V6.

Behind that V6 is an eight-speed automatic and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system. A manual transmission is no longer available, the same goes for Audi's lightning-fast dual-clutch auto. With weight loss of 75 kg over the old car acceleration is quicker than before. As an added bonus, fuel economy should be improved as well.

The new car comes with all-new suspension, four different drive select modes, and an available sport rear differential to help route power. We were able to drive the new S4 last year and found it "incredibly well-sorted, immensely capable."

Pricing is now available for the 2018 S4, with the Progressiv trim starting at $58,000 with 18-inch wheels, LED head and taillights, and Nappa leather sports seats. Technik will start at $62,100 and adds 19-inch wheels, a surround-view camera, Audi's virtual cockpit instrument panel, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.
