We now have pricing information for Hyundai's Ioniq hybrid and Ioniq EV. The all-new Hyundai hybrid will start at a Prius-beating $24,299, with the full electric model starting at $35,649. That's before government rebates.
The Ioniq hybrid and its best-in-class 4.1 L/100 km combined fuel efficiency rating will undercut the 2017 Toyota Prius by nearly $3,000. It has a 1.6L four-cylinder that works with the electric motor to deliver 139 hp total. Somewhat rare for a hybrid, it uses a real six-speed dual-clutch automatic. No CVT here.
The base Blue trim is a basic model, but it still has 15-inch alloys, power windows, heated front seats and mirrors, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There will also be SE and Limited models that add larger wheels and more interior amenities. Limited models with the Tech package get leather, heated steering wheel, and navigation, as well as active safety features like autonomous emergency braking.
The electric Ioniq starts at $35,649 before any government rebates. That's closer to the $33,998 2017 Nissan Leaf than the $42,795 2017 Chevrolet Bolt, and reflects that the Ioniq's range is closer to the Leaf's 172 km than the 383 km of the Bolt EV. The Ioniq offers a range of up to 200 km from its 28 kWh lithium polymer battery, and government rebates of up to $15,000 for Ontario residents - applied to the final purchase price after freight, taxes and levies. The Ioniq EV will be available in SE and Limited trims and has similar features and options to the hybrid model.
