Mitsubishi Doubling Warranties This Summer

Mitsubishi Canada is expanding their warranty coverage on new cars sold this summer. For a limited time, the length of the comprehensive coverage and roadside assistance will double.

The company already offers a 10-year and 160,000 km powertrain warranty, but the comprehensive and roadside assistance portions were just five years. Now, for a limited time and starting in July, the comprehensive warranty and roadside assistance on Mitsubishi vehicles sold in Canada will be extended to match the powertrain warranty at 10-years and 160,000 km. That 10-year term is the longest new-car warranty in Canada.

Mitsubishi CEO Tony Laframboise said that "for the summer of 2017, we’re making the best warranty in the business even better." It's also part of celebrations for Mitsubishi's 100th anniversary of building cars.

There are a couple of exclusions. The longer warranty doesn't apply to the electric i-MiEV hatchback or Lancer Evolution models. The last year of the Evolution has a 5-year, 100,000 km powertrain and 3-year 60,000 km comprehensive warranty. The i-MiEV gets the same as the Evo, but has 8-years and 160,000 km coverage for the battery.

Mitsubishi said that the extended warranty would start in July, but didn't announce when the offer would end.
