Toyota 86 Receives New GT Trim, Price Bump

The Toyota 86 gets a price increase and a new GT trim for 2018, replacing last year's Special Edition with more content.

The 86 is Toyota's sports coupe, which started life as a Scion, then became the 86 when that brand disappeared. The 86 uses a 2.0L boxer-four that makes 205 hp and 156 lb-ft with a manual transmission, and five less of each with an automatic.

For 2018, the base 86 coupe sees a price increase of $410, bringing it to $29,990 for the six-speed manual and $31,190 for the automatic. For that, buyers get an eight-speaker audio system, power locks, an information display, and 17-inch alloys.

New for 2018 is a GT trim, replacing the Special Edition from 2017. The new car is available with the manual or an automatic, unlike last year's which was manual only. The GT adds an anti-theft alarm, rear spoiler, and fog lamps. It also has push-button start, heated leather front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a 4.2-inch dash display that gives performance and vehicle data.

The 2018 Toyota 86 is on sale now.
