Dodge is teasing some changes to the Canadian-built SRT Hellcat for 2019. A cool new hood is coming for next year with big new snorkel intakes.
The Challenger has long traded on its nostalgic look. So a new dual-snorkel hood shouldn't come as much of a surprise. After all, more cool hood vents are nothing new for muscle cars. But Dodge says that this new design is more sinister looking than the old Challenger's more rearward-mounted vents.
More importantly, it "provides maximum air intake to the supercharged powerplant." The current 2018 SRT Hellcat Challenger hood ducts air into the engine bay to keep things cool. That's as opposed to the more powerful Demon's hood which ducts air to the intake.
That line from Dodge suggests that the new hood's big twin nostrils will also be an engine air intake. Does that mean more than 707 hp from the 6.2L supercharged Hellcat V8?
Are there more changes coming for 2019? Like more power, or other design changes? Or is this just a cool new hood. Dodge and SRT aren't saying, just that more information will come in the summer.
