2019 Nissan Rogue, Altima, Qashqai To Boost Active Safety Kit

Nissan is boosting the number of standard active safety features in volume-selling trims of three of its most popular 2019 models as it works toward making its Safety Shield 360 suite standard across most of its lineup by 2021.

Safety Shield 360 comprises front automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, high beam assist, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert and rear automatic emergency braking.

In SV and SL trims of the Altima (which is all-new for 2019), that means the addition of frontal pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and rear automatic braking.

Currently, the Qashqai SV and SL come standard with blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert and front emergency braking, but pedestrian detection, lane departure warning/prevention and high beam assist are options in the SL, and rear automatic braking is not offered at all.

The Rogue SV will gain standard frontal pedestrian detection and lane departure warning/prevention, and both SV and SL models will add rear automatic braking and automatic high beams.

Nissan hasn't revealed pricing for the 2019 versions of that trio of vehicles, but all three are scheduled to reach Canadian showrooms this fall.
