The 2019 Nissan Murano has arrived in Canadian showrooms with updated styling and a noteworthy price increase.
Nissan's starting MSRP for its mid-size crossover is $32,248 in S FWD trim, up from last year's $31,498. That extra money gets you the Murano's newly standard LED headlights, second-row supplemental side airbags and a front passenger knee airbag. Also included are the brand's rear door alert (which reminds the driver to check the back seat before leaving the car) and a driver alertness monitor.
Next up the ladder is the SV AWD trim for $38,748, a $750 increase. The most significant price increases happen at the high end the Murano range: the SL AWD now goes for $42,948 -- up $1,300 -- and the top-end Platinum is priced at $45,998, a $1,400 jump.
All Murano trims also get an updated look thanks to a more pronounced V-shaped grille, new headlight and taillight styling, and new wheel designs. Inside, there are new trim finish colours: the top-end Platinum trim has diamond-quilted seats with contrasting piping, and dark wood-tone dash inserts; SV and SL can be optioned with light wood tone trim; and S, SV and SL come standard with a metallic trim finish.
As before, every Murano trim comes with an 8.0-inch infotainment display that supports the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration platforms.
The 2019 Nissan Murano is also available with the company's Safety Shield 360 suite. This bundles items like forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, high beam assist and rear intelligent emergency braking. Most of those items were offered in the outgoing Murano, too.
The Murano carries over its 3.5 L V6 engine (260 hp/240 lb-ft of torque) and continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
