Kia Prices 2020 Telluride at $44,995

Kia today announced a $44,995 starting price for its all-new Telluride SUV – the company's largest vehicle to date and its first designed specifically for North America – which arrives this month at Canadian dealerships as a 2020 model.

The 2020 Kia Telluride will initially be available in EX ($44,995) and SX ($49,995) trims, and an SX Limited variant will come later this spring priced at $53,995. All three share a 3.8L V6 engine (291 hp/262 lb-ft of torque), an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard on-demand AWD. Also standard is three-row seating that will accommodate up to eight occupants.

Safety-wise, all Telluride trims come with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, lane following assist, safe exit assist, a rear seat reminder system (all of the preceding are Kia firsts as standard features, says the company) and rear park distance sensors.

Safe exit assist prevents the driver from deactivating the child safety lock if the car's sensors detect a vehicle or object approaching the parked Telluride from the rear. The rear seat occupant alert system uses its own sensors to monitor the rear part of the cabin for passengers. If the driver leaves the vehicle with someone inside, the car will flash a gauge cluster message, then escalate by activating the alarm system and pinging the driver's smartphone (if Kia's UVO Intelligence app is installed).

Other standard items include remote engine start with climate control pre-conditioning, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, six USB charging ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, Bluetooth that allows two phones to connect at once, eight-way power driver's seat, heated front seats and steering wheel and reclining third-row seats.

Among the Telluride's list of "standard and optional" equipment is forward collision warning with avoidance assist, high beam assist, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, blind spot view monitor, driver attention warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward park distance sensors and a 360-degree exterior camera system.

Other features include a PA system to let the driver address rear-seat occupants, and a sound system "quiet mode" that cuts audio output to speakers in the second and third rows.
