Nissan Canada is wishing its long-running Z sports car a happy 50th birthday with a limited edition model that pays tribute to the first-generation 240Z's racing success.
Just 50 examples of the 2020 Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition will be sold in Canada, all based on the Sport coupe trim. To that car, the 50th edition comes in one of two special liveries – white with red trim, and silver with black trim – that recall the #46 Brock Racing Enterprises 240Z that won a number of Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) championships following the car's introduction in 1970.
Nissan unveiled the 50th Anniversary Edition car this week in New York City to coincide with that city's auto show, where Nissan first showed the original Z a half-century ago.
Along with the special paint job, the commemorative car gets special 19-inch wheels with red accents, 50th anniversary badging on its fenders and tail, an Alcantara steering wheel with a centering stripe, leather/suede-trimmed seats embossed with the 50th Anniversary logo and anniversary edition kick plates.
Mechanically, the 50th Anniversary 370Z matches the 370Z Sport trim it's based on. It uses the same 3.7L V6 engine (332 hp/270 lb-ft of torque) as all 370Z models, and can be had with either the standard six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed automatic. It also gets a limited slip differential, four-piston front brake calipers and two-piston rears that clamp rotors 14 and 13.8 inches across, respectively.
Nissan Canada says it doesn't yet know when the 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition will arrive at dealerships. The company said it would announce pricing "at a later date."
