2020 Honda Civic Hatchback Gets Refreshed Styling and a Price Increase

Honda today announced the 2020 Civic Hatchback's arrival in Canadian showrooms sporting a styling update and a significant price increase.

Honda's compact hatch is the last member of the Civic family to get a refresh, following last year's revisions to the sedan and coupe. Along with the new look, the update includes more sound insulation in the floor, trunk and fenders in a bid to create a quieter cabin.

The entry-level Civic Hatchback LX with manual transmission comes in at $24,190, a $2,000 increase compared to the 2019 model.

Mid-range Sport trim also gains a standard power driver's seat; and Sport Touring adds a garage door opener and upgraded LED headlights.

Sport and Sport Touring also get trim-specific interior treatments aimed at better differentiating those two trims from the base LX, and from each other. Sport gets dash panels with an embossed geometric pattern and new seat upholstery, and Sport Touring boasts a brushed black dash finish.

Sport trim's new entry price is $27,890 with the six-speed stick shift (also a $2,000 bump) and the Sport Touring 6MT goes for $31,390, up $1,300. Price increases for cars with the optional automatic CVT are, on average, more modest: The 2020 LX CVT and Sport CVT models both go up $1,000 to $25,490 and $29,190 respectively, and Sport Touring CVT is $32,690, up from last year's $31,390 tag.

These 2020 model year updates follow on 2019's more substantial additions to the Civic Hatchback's standard features list, which included the Honda Sensing driver assist suite and a much-applauded volume knob for the sound system.
