2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Starts at $52,495

Jeep today announced that its all-new Grand Cherokee L seven-seater will carry a $52,495 price tag when it arrives in Canadian dealers this spring.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L is the model’s first-ever three-row variant, and its styling previews a redesigned two-row Grand Cherokee that will follow later in the year.

For Jeep’s $52,495 price, you get a Grand Cherokee L in Laredo trim powered by a 3.6L V6 engine (290 hp/257 lb-ft of torque) and four-wheel drive. At the top of the range is a Summit Reserve trim that maxes out at $81,985 with a 5.7L V8 making 357 hp and 390 lb-ft.

Those prices position the Grand Cherokee L as an in-betweener in the market for mid-size SUVs with three rows of seating: its starting point is $10,000 to $15,000 higher than most mainstream models, and about the same amount below less-pricey upscale selections like the Audi Q7 and Genesis GV80.

For the entry price, Grand Cherokee L buyers get adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, all-LED exterior lighting, heated front seats and steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital gauge display, and a Uconnect 5 infotainment system.

Limited trim adds leather seating, heated second-row seats, remote engine start, and a power tailgate.

Overland’s $68,995 price includes the Quadra-Trac II 4WD system, Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, navigation, ambient lighting, front seats with adjustable cushion length, hands-free tailgate, and a dual-pane sunroof. Optional here is a Trail-Rated Off-Road package that brings skid plates and a rear electronic limited-slip differential.

Summit trim is where the Grand Cherokee L gets some serious upscale amenities, like an oak-wood-trimmed steering wheel, 16-way front seats with massage, active driving assist, intersection collision assist, parallel/perpendicular parking assist, drowsy-driver detection, and 360-degree exterior camera views.

Finally, Summit Reserve gets quilted leather upholstery, waxed walnut wood trim, ventilated second-row seats, and a 19-speaker, 950-watt McIntosh sound system.

Other available features include a head-up driver display, a digital rearview mirror, and a rear-seat monitoring camera.

Jeep is using the Grand Cherokee L to introduce its Jeep Wave customer care program, which includes three years of oil changes and tire rotations, call centre support, trip interruption coverage, and VIP treatment at some Jeep events.
