The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback gets some new styling for 2023 along with the brand's latest Safety Sense system and new infotainment system. Wrapping it all up are some new paint shades.
The changes to the front and rear ends of the Corolla hatch are enough that you can tell something's different, but the changes are subtle. The new colours stand out a little more, including Blue Crush Metallic and a red called Inferno.
Tech changes are much more extensive, starting with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. The company's newest advanced driver assistance system includes road sign assist, pre-collision system, lane tracing and lane departure alert with steering assist, auto high beams, and full-speed radar cruise control. All but the S grade include blind spot alert and rear cross traffic alerts, as well as a new anti-theft system.
Toyota's new multimedia system is standard. The touchscreen system includes wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. Base Corolla grades include vehicle health reports. The SE Upgrade trim adds app compatibility with remote ignition, remote door locking, vehicle tracking, and even window open/close status.
The XSE trim adds an updated infotainment system on a 7.0-inch screen. This version includes cloud-based navigation with destination assist as well as the Toyota intelligent assistant that can let you control functions like the audio system and climate control using voice commands.
The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback S starts from $23,350 and includes a 4.2-inch digital display, push-button start, and 15-inch wheels. The SE adds 16-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
For $27,030, the SE Upgrade adds 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless phone charging, and a heated steering wheel.
Top of the line is the XSE at $29,890. The grade includes SE Upgrade features as well as JBL audio, a 7.0-inch screen, dual-zone climate control, sport fabric seats with faux-leather trim, and a power-adjust driver's seat.
All versions of the Corolla hatch come with a 169-hp 2.0L four-cylinder and a contninuously variable transmission (CVT). The estimated fuel economy is 6.7 L/100 km combined. It won't offer a hybrid version like the sedan and it no longer offers a six-speed manual transmission.
