History/Overview
The CT5 is one part of Cadillac’s two-pronged approach to the luxury sedan segment, slotting in above the smaller CT4. Cadillac introduced the CT5 (along with the CT4) in 2020.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, Cadillac has spun the CT5-V off as a stand-alone model from the base CT5 and added a Blackwing model powered by a supercharged V8 engine.
Available Trims
The CT5-V comes in base and Blackwing trims. Base cars are powered by a 3.0L turbo V6 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, while Blackwing models get a 6.2L supercharged V8 offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. All CT5-V models are rear-wheel drive.
Standard Features
The Cadillac CT5-V comes with 19-inch wheels, auto on/off LED headlights and taillights, heated side mirrors with driver’s side auto-dimming, heated front seats and steering wheel, passive keyless entry,
Inside, the CT5-V is equipped with power-adjustable front seats with four-way lumbar and adjustable side bolsters, ambient lighting, 15-speaker audio, a 10-inch touchscreen, dual-zone auto A/C, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leatherette upholstery, power-adjustable steering column, a universal home remote, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and wireless smartphone charging.
CT5-V’s standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision detection with automatic braking, reverse automatic braking, blind spot monitoring, lane change and rear cross-traffic alerts, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, front and rear park assist, and automatic high beams.
Blackwing models add power-folding side mirrors, ventilated front seats, LED front cornering lights, navigation, a digital gauge cluster, head-up display, 16-speaker audio, and surround-view cameras.
Key Options
A CT5-V platinum package brings a sunroof, digital rearview mirror, power-folding side mirrors, leather upholstery, and carbon fibre interior trim. A premium package adds massaging/ventilated front seats, LED front cornering lights, and lighted door handles and sill plates. You can also add navigation, a parking package (digital rearview mirror, power-folding side mirrors, and a hands-free trunk opening), and a tech package (digital gauge cluster, head-up display).
Blackwing models offer two different carbon fibre packages, and a driver assist package adds back the advanced safety features that are included in the base car but left off the list for this more driver-centric version of the CT5-V.
Fuel Economy
Cadillac’s fuel consumption estimates are 12.8/8.7 L/100 km (city/highway) for the CT5-V’s 3.0L V6 with RWD, and 12.8/9.1 with AWD. The Blackwing’s ratings are 18.1/10.7 L/100 km with the 10-speed automatic, and 18.3/11.4 with the six-speed manual.
Competition
The Cadillac CT5-V competes in the popular compact sport sedan segment, where its key competitors are the BMW M340i and M3, Audi S4 and RS4, Lexus IS F, Acura TLX S-Type, Mercedes-AMG versions of the C-Class, and the Volvo S60 T8.
