it great just needs a Lil more pep
I purchased a limited 09 rav 4 about 5 months ago to replace my 2003 matrix XRS 6 speed manual (I still have the matrix) The rav is not peppy at all when getting on the highway. The rear gate / side opening door is different. Inconvenient when someone is parked behind you at the mall and you need to get in the back. Other than that I love it I'm happy !

Live up to the Toyota Name
Dependable, reliable and boring. This car will never leave you on the road nor make you cry after you visit your mechanic. However, do not expect people to turn their head when you are driving this car. In terms of comfort, it is very basic as most Japanese. good for commuting. If you are looking for comfort and style, this is not your type. Mileage is good for a AWD and is better than the competition. If you have kids and is ok with a car getting dirty, or if you are senior and isn't interested in the opposite car attracted by your car, then this vehicle is for you :)

most reliable car ever!
Love Rav4! never had any problems with this car.
comfortable, reliable, and practical car ever.
I love when a car you drive daily is so easy to turn, park, or just dive on the highway. So you don't feel you have been working out after a trip. Cant tell you how mush i liked the car.
would never sell it, if not leaving the country.

2009 Toyota RAV4

Trim: Base AWD

Good Vehicle, 4 cylinder AWD
Bought this RAV4 used, just under 3 years old. It is comfortable on the highway and in town. We use it to tow our 14ft. boat, which it does well. The swing-open rear door is less desirable than a flip-up door, it requires extra clearance that today's parking spots don't allow. The fuel economy is down from the Escape that I had previously, but still friendly for an SUV in this class and year. I use it as a daily commuter and it gives a person the added security of AWD in the winter. The back seats are very spacious, I have fit a 6'1" 270 lb. man and his wife comfortably. The seat belt buckles in the back seat are pretty narrow and it makes it hard for full size adults to get them done up. Interior design is something that is very easy to use and nothing is out of reach. It has had a coolant pump replaced and a drive shaft, the u joint can't be replaced the $1200 shaft needs to be replaced. It has plenty of space for luggage and a hide away under the trunk floor. I would probably upgrade to the V6 if I did it over again, just for the extra towing and performance. Overall a good vehicle and a step up from the old Escape.

2009 Toyota RAV4 AWD
Toyota’s 2009 RAV4 is a compact sport-utility vehicle that is slightly larger than some of its competition. But despite its relatively large size, it’s also one of the lightest vehicles in its segment, a trait which pays dividends in the RAV4’s driving dynamics and fuel efficiency. The RAV4 returns excellent fuel economy of 10.69 liters/100kms city and 8.40 liters/100kms highway. The 2009 RAV4 is powered by a new, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 179 horsepower and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The new engine is more powerful than the 2006 to 2008's 2.4-liter and is also more fuel-efficient. The RAV4 boasts class-leading interior space. Second-row seats are adjustable and offer spacious legroom. Cargo capacity behind the second row is an impressive 37.2 cubic feet. What we like most about the RAV4 is its refined, carlike demeanor. The excellent fuel economy of the four-cylinder, responsive and fun driving dynamics, massive interior space and Toyota Quality puts the RAV4 at the head of its class.

Great car
Bought for my wife to drive around with our newborn. It has great space, great fuel efficiency and is fun to drive. We tried it on a trip across Ontario and was pleasantly surprised with 4 people, a dog and a cartop carrier with its power, fuel efficiency and comfort. Great car for all around use, also has AWD and great safety features.

2009 Rav4 AWD Limited
Very reliable. pretty cheap on gas considering it is AWD, V6 SUV. performance and comfort are very important so I gave a 5 star rating. It is very comfy with power seats, back up camera, and more. the retain value is also excellent as well, but I will probably keep this car for as long as I can.

2009 Toyota RAV4

Trim: Sport V6
by coxjj on 04-18-2013
Love this vehicle
Have had vehicle for 1 yr now and driven 32000kms (vehicle at 90,000km). No repairs only maintenance. Original tires replaced at 80000kms. Test drove all 3 trim levels and all 3 engines 2.4, 2.5 and 3.5. For the marginal difference in fuel economy went with the V6 with its 266hp! Really appreciate the power on the highway. Surprised I haven't rec'd ticket because of the crazy acceleration. The styling is very sharp. Driver seat is very comfortable with lumbar support. Stereo is basic and could be better. All controls for heating/cooling and radio easy to use. I am getting 11L/100 which is combination highway/city. Only 1 complaint and its annoying, rear door with its left hinged door doesn't make sense and now it has started to squeak with every bump in the road, been to Toyota 3 times in 4 months, the best is 1 month without the squeak before it returned.

Lots of cargo space and looks good
Bought a Toyota Rav4 2009 Limited edition. We luv the space to load our baby stroller and other items. Seats are firm with the leather, but good with the heated seats at the front. SUV looks good exterior wise. There is enough torque, but the fuel economy not so good. I get 9.5L real world driving, I was hoping 8.5 L/100 km. Bought this SUV at an amazing price

It's a Toyota
The Rav4 averaged 9.6l/km over 3 yrs. The rear seats slide and recline and there's lots of trunk space, with extra under the floor. It's pretty torquey for a four cylinder and had no problem handling mountains with 4 adults and their luggage aboard. The seats only get heat with leather and they clean up well. The dash is intuitive and the interior has lots of storage. The lockable center differential came in handy when going up snowy cottage roads. With a proper set of winter tires it goes through snow and more importantly, stops with confidence. While it has had several recalls, none impacted it. No wonder it won Car and Driver's comparison tests.

Excellent Family Car
We`ve owned the RAV for 4 years and it`s been nothing but a pleasurable experience. It`s reliability and stability on the road has kept my family safe and out of trouble. As my first SUV, it was a long time dream to own one and as the roads in NB in the winter time can be somewhat treturous, it put the mind of my mother and mother in law at ease when we came for a visit in Bathurst. Toyota is my number 1 choice when it comes to a vechicle and the RAV being my third Toyota, it didn`t disapoint us.

Trim: base 4 cylinder 4wd 4 door
by 2009rav4base on 10-28-2012
the interior was surprisingly uncomfortable
great in town and highway driver, very little road noise, handling is excellent although a slight tippy feeling at higher speeds, the 4wd capability is excellent in all conditions, the spare tire cover is cumbersome to remove and reinstall if one was to replace a flat tire. engine break-in period was complete at 26000kms and the powerr and milage have both come to my expectations but are still lower than the posted rating from dealer. the headlights are awesome on high beam and low beam. the layout of the interior space and creature comforts are great with the exception of the door cubbys - they don't fit a over a 350ml bottle of water. the console, glove box and convience storage are well located and easy to use and very spacious. the4 cylinder engine has a little less power than is comfortable when travelling the mountain passes with a family of four and our gear, but saying that the car still handled a trailer of 800lbs just the same as the kids and all the gear = good. the biggest single down fall is the extremely uncomfortable seat and headrest combination the head rest puts your head to a forward down looking position and the seat hunches you. when choosing the rav 4 we tested the CRV, Matrix, Equinox, mitsubishi comparable model, hyundia comparable model, Edge, Caliber, and compass and only the rav 4 got a passing grade.
