The Green Living Show, "Canada’s largest consumer show dedicated to simple solutions for leading a healthy and sustainable lifestyle", has announced their 2016 Canadian Green Car Award finalists. The overall winner will be revealed Friday, April 15th at the Green Living Show in Toronto. The six finalists and the overall winner were picked by a panel of Canadian auto journalists.
The six finalists are:
Battery Electric (ie. a full EV): Nissan Leaf
Plug-in hybrid: Chevrolet Volt
Hybrid: Hyundai Sonata
Efficient internal combustion: Mazda3 GS
Efficient three-row family vehicle: Volvo XC90 T6
Fun car: Tesla Model S P90D
The scoring is based on a number of objective criteria, including fuel economy, emissions and price, and the cars are also judged on performance, driving experience, value and green qualities. The competition began with each judge submitting up to five nominees per category. The vehicles that received the most nominations in each category became the category finalists. They were then scored based on test drives, specifications and judges' experience to determine the 2016 Canadian Green Car winner.
