Alpina Unveils Its Pumped Up 5 Series

FRANKFURT – Alpina presented the world premiere of its new BMW Alpina D5S Allrad at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, the latest generation of its 5 Series sedan.

The company, based in Buchloe, Germany, creates high-performance versions of BMW vehicles in cooperation with the automaker, and its cars are sold through BMW retailers. Alpina is considered an auto manufacturer itself, rather than an aftermarket company, and the company puts its own Alpina-specific VINs on the BMW vehicles it produces - all of which were on display at Frankfurt.

The new D5S Allrad produces 388 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque that peaks at 1,750 rpm, compared to 350 horsepower and 700 lb-ft in the company’s previous generation. Unfortunately, other details presented were in untranslated German, so we took some photos of their lineup, and will look forward to confirming which of these will arrive in Canada for 2018.

Founded in 1965, Alpina builds between 1,200 and 1,700 vehicles that are sold in global markets worldwide.
