Jaguar Freshens 2020 F-Type With Commemorative Edition

Jaguar is getting set to launch a commemorative edition of the F-Type coupe and convertible for the 2020 model year that celebrates the 70th anniversary of its iconic XK120 sports car.

Dubbed the Chequered Flag, the limited-production F-Type trim gets unique badging on the outside, and will be available in spring 2019. Special cabin treatments include branded tread plates and headrests, dark brushed aluminum trim, Windsor leather interior with embossed sport seats, ebony suede headliner and a special steering wheel with a red top centre marker.

As with the rest of the F-Type range, the Chequered Flag edition enjoys a Touch Pro infotainment system updated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and also comes with trim-specific 20-inch black wheels and a choice of red, white and grey paint colours that, on the convertible, are matched with a black roof.

Engine choices for the Chequered Flag edition are limited to the F-Type's 2.0L four-cylinder (340 hp) and 3.0L supercharged V6 (380 hp) and the eight-speed automatic transmission.

Almost as an aside, Jaguar says the F-Type R (powered by a 550 hp version of Jag's 5.0L V8) is the only other trim to benefit from a notable change: the automaker says new suspension dampers (aka shock absorbers) and ball joints adopted from the wild SVR trim improve ride comfort and "enhance capability and system robustness."
