Impressed
This car surprisingly has a lot of punch, and it comes in handy when you go down highways, trying to get out of the snow, or getting out of the way on those last-second yellow lights in intersections.

Comfort is what it is for a Mazda. I don't expect much from it, but it never gave me any sore butts.

Performance wise has to be the spotlight on this vehicle as its 160hp engine delivers incredible responses.

Fuel economy has also been very generous towards my wallet as I only had to fill up once every two weeks.

Interior/Exterior designs are, once again as I don't expect too much, decent but definitely sporty looking all the way through.

Reliability, surprisingly for a ten-year-old vehicle, has been very well behaved and only problems have been the expected such as replacing new battery and new brakes; I never had any major problems.

Great little commuting car
Great car and great on gas. This series of Mazdas are my favorite for style and fuel economy. The style and versitility of this car allows for great city driving as well as the performance for highway driving.

We drove it about 20-25KM a day and would be able to fill up about evert 2 weeks. The built in options like the sunroof, air conditioning, automatic windows/locks and cruise control make it for a perfect little every day family car.

Fun rustbucket
Although fun to drive, I wouldn't recommend this car. We have probably spend as much on repairing the car as we did buying it. Lots of rust issues. We had some of the rust repaired under warranty, but the issues returned about two years after the repairs.

We have replaced wheel bearings, replaced shocks in the back (and repaired after the replacement). The computer has also been replaced. Our back window shattered on a cold day. The hand break sticks. etc.

Not very comfortable if you are over 6' tall.

The car that's good for anything
I have been most impressed with this car's versatility and ability to be an incredible help in any situation from camping to moving to getting band equipment to a venue, or even just holding a lot of people after a night out. This car is the car for everyone!

THE BEST First Car or Family Vehicle
I love this car. She was my first, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I may even buy the same car, only newer, when I replace her. I've done SO many road trips and house-moves with this car, and I've never been short on truck space.

Plus, this car is amazing on gas! I got into a long-distance relationship, and it only cost me $60, round-trip to drive from Langley, BC, to Edmonton, AB to visit my boyfriend. THIS IS A GREAT CAR!

FUEL EFFICIENT
Considering the fact that this car has been produced 10 years ago, it is highly popular amongst its competitors even today, is fuel efficient, never lets me down, is cheap to have insurance with and is cheap to keep. Even though it may look old (considering some exterior rust) it still runs like new.

Probalems mixed with Greatness
I have just recently bought my '04 Mazda 3 and yes it's comfortable, yes it's sporty, and there are a lot of great things to say about it. I have driven a Mazda 3 or a long time so I do like them (my dad has a '07, I used it for my drivers tests) I love that I am able to Manually shift the car. It does not have any "special" features other then Power/ Key-less locks, and A/C. Over all I really do like the car, but one thing that I can not stand about it and the '07 is the view while backing up. because the car has such a big trunk (which is nice) and a comfortable high back rear seat and low roof line it restricts the reversing view. I find I prop myself up to see easier. Then manual windows go up and down really nicely and the mirrors are easy to adjust. another down side to this car is they rust REALLY easily for some reason. (If you are looking at one with None or very little rust look closer to look for any work down) and make sure if any work is down to make sure it was sealed properly or else it will come right back.

Mechanically perfect but rust is a major problem
It is a nice car and drives nice. The gear shifting is very smooth but the rpm goes above 3 on the highway.
Rust is a major problem in this model.
The interior is ok with so many comfortable features and reachable keys.
I will probably buy another one but 2009 with no rust.

Fantastic car!
I really love my Mazda 3 hatchback. I have the 2.3L 5-speed and it is quite fun, definitely enough power to jump ahead in traffic a bit, even passing on the highway. it goes pretty good but still gets good mileage. And handles quite well too. Great looking car IMO. It's also very practical being a 5 door, quite alot of room. I have fit a 6'11" surfboard inside the car, with the tip sliding between the front two seats. Back seats fold down 60/40. Stereo is good quality, plenty of sound for me. Automatic wipers work really well! I am very impressed. Really like that feature.. Along with many others. Like a small storage area hidden in the floor of the trunk. enough room to store jumper cables and a few tools. I really can't say enough good about this car. It has been very reliable mechanically. Only problems for me is not quite enough lumbar support on long trips, and the AC is pretty weak. the ac works, it just never gets ice cold. But those arent big things, i usually like using the sunroof anyway! all around this is a fantastic car. I would buy it again without hesitation.

This car is really fun to drive, looks great all shined up and is comfortable for long trips. Some of my favourite features are the dusk sensing headlights and rain sensing wipers. The car is also killer in the snow with a decent set of winter tires. All around great compact sedan.

Surprises
Had this car for 3 years now. High fuel demand for its category. Had some bad surprises. For example, rack (from rack and pinion) broke in half, luckily, I wan't going high speed cause I lost control of my two front wheels. Tried to find other people with this particular problem as my garage never saw that, onl found Mazda3 owners... Not to mention, as many already know, the rust on this model is a major issue.

Mazda 3 Sedan is Good Car Some Issues
Bought this car new in Dec 2003. It is a good little car, accelerates well for its size, handles well and has great interior features for a relatively cheap vehicle. Issues are rear struts only lasted 6 years. Also, brakes do not seem to last more than 30000km, this seems to be a common issue with these. Lastly, rust around rear brake light in trunk is also a common issue as well as bubbling of rust under paint from use of recycled metal i assume. Overall still a good little car for the price.

not bad
Its a really good car, it helps me get places, I can rely on it to get to work, doctor appointments and its good in the snow! I throughly enjoy the car, it has lasted me a long time; was my moms car but she gave it to me when I got married. I feel safe with my daughter in the back of the car, and can have a relaxing ride.
Tastefully styled inside and out, with clear nods to Mazda's sportier models like the MX-5 Miata inside, the Mazda2 goes a long way toward feeling the part of a hotter hatch even if it isn't. The Mazda2's pert, upright stance, low front end; and its simple hatch design with plenty of window space is a refreshing departure from the cavelike claustrophobia you'll find in some other small cars. The cabin is a bit dark yet simple and clean, and some might find it refreshing
